Meet the staff

The Friendly and Loving Staff of CentreVida

June Lamphier, CPM,LM,LVN

I decided to become a midwife after my own wonderful homebirth experiences and ever since, it's been my hope and joy to bring the miraculous experience of a natural birth to other women and their families.

I worked as a nurse from 1985-1998 in internal medicine, gastroenterology, family practice, and pediatrics. I began my training as a direct entry midwife in 1997 and started my own practice in 2000. I am licensed to practice in the state of Texas and a certified professional midwife.

I feel it an honor and a privilege to serve women and their families during the childbearing time. It is my hope and focus that the woman and her family feel informed and encouraged to participate in the choices surrounding her pregnancy and childbirth.

I truly trust the birth process and hope to affirm each woman's ability to birth in her own way. Women labor best in a place they feel safe, free, and private, with attendants they know and trust. For many women, this is with a midwife.

My aim is to assist families by providing personalized care during the childbearing year with the hope that they will embark on parenthood with an enhanced sense of confidence, fulfillment and joy. June Austin Midwife

Jessica Postol, LMT

I am a professional and intuitive massage therapist who believes regular bodywork can revitalize the mind, body, and spirit, helping to create the sacred space needed for healing and growth. I've found through my practice, that my most rewarding work comes from offering a bit of nurturing care to those going through one of life's many transitions (childbirth, chronic pain or accidents, moving, getting married, going away to college, losing a job, recovery from illness, the loss of a loved one, etc). When we allow ourselves the space to heal with grace during these times of transition, we learn to operate from our higher consciousness, and are able to be more relaxed, present, focused, and grounded in everyday life.

I am a graduate of Texas Healing Arts Institute and am a Kundalini Yoga Teacher at the 200 Hr Level through Yoga Yoga. I have also taken additional workshops in Prenatal Massage, Sports & Deep Tissue Massage, and Geriatric Massage. I am working towards my 500hr certification in Kundalini Yoga and have studied with such Master Teachers as Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Snatam Kaur, GuruDev Singh, GuruGanesha Singh, and Shakti Parwha Kaur Khalsa.

Aside from my focus on prenatal and postpartum work, I am honored to volunteer at Harbor Hospice in South Austin and have two daughters (ages 17 and 18) and a 12 year old Border Collie named Cosmo.

Mandy Toavs, CPM, LM, LMT

My philosophy is that birth is a normal, albeit grand, life event that can be fulfilling and satisfying. My clinical understanding and personal knowledge gives me a deep appreciation of the experiences women and their families have during these life transitions. One of my goals for clients involves sharing evidence-based information to bring empowerment to decision making processes.

My career began in 2001 with a massage therapy program, a midwifery study group and a doula training in New Mexico. Within the following four years I was blessed with two pregnancies and gave birth to a daughter (2003) and a son (2005), booth at home with midwives. In 2007 I began midwifery training in Chicago via The National College of Midwifery. In 2008, I participated in an intership serving primarily an Amish population in rural Wisconsin.

I continue to study with the National College of Midwifery, am a member of the Midwives Alliance of North America and am certified in Bodywork for the Childbearing Year.

Hannah Wolkskill, RN, Student Midwife

Hello! My name is Hannah and I am a student midwife here at the birth center. I started my path towards becoming a midwife after I graduated nursing school and realized working in a hospital was not really what I wanted to do. Being in a more personalized setting where you can build meaningful relationships with your clients was something I valued greatly and hoped to achieve in any setting I worked at. After talking with a friend about her interest in becoming a midwife and watching the documentary “The Business of Being Born,” I started considering continuing my education and becoming a midwife myself. I had loved the pregnancy and labor classes and clinical rotations I had completed during school, and really felt honored to take part in the births I saw during this time. Since I started working here at CentreVida Birth and Wellness Center in March 2011, I have learned a ton about pregnancy and birth and have really enjoyed being trained by June. I love getting to see women empowered through their pregnancy and labor, and seeing their motherly instincts so prevalent and strong during this time. It is a beautiful thing, and I feel so incredibly honored to serve in any way I can during this special time.
